Skate park

After some false starts the ground between the ramps has now been resurfaced using a particular ‘power floated concrete’.  The specialist concrete employed enables users to slide safely on the surface, reducing potential impact injuries and will  help ensure the safety of the skateboarders.  This improvement will also enhance the skateboarding experience.

 

Play area

The play area at the Lodge Road recreation ground has become old and tired looking, and is overdue for a refurbishment. Heacham Parish Council has agreed to investigate the upgrading of the children’s play area which provides the opportunity to redesign it to make more effective use of the play space.

The Parish Council will be looking for grants to help fund this major project, and to make any application for funding will need details of what we are looking to do and how much it will cost.

A survey was undertaken to ascertain views about the level of use of the play area, thoughts about the condition and appearance of the play equipment, what people who use it would like to see retained, what should be replaced, and ideas for new equipment.

In the responses we received some really positive contributions about how people would like to see the play park developed.  There were also lots of really interesting suggestions for other items of equipment that people have seen in other playgrounds, and helpful comments about other factors we should consider in designing the play area.

Our next step is to approach a number of play park design companies, with the findings of the survey, and ask them to provide designs and costings, with a views to displaying these at Old Friends Hall, and possibly at the recreation ground, in the early summer, to seek views.

The Parish Council will then start pulling together applications for grants to identify funding to help complete the refresh and to inform budget preparation in the autumn.
